The raids were conducted in Wazir Dhand and Shah Kas localities of Jamrud early on Wednesday morning.

Mr Riaz said the arrested men, including Afghan nationals, had links with

big drug barons in the country and they would now be investigated about their network.

He said the seized drugs included 26 kilogrammes of heroin, 12kg opium, 8kg charas, 4kg ice and 54kg of different chemicals used in making heroin and ice drug.

The five arrested men against whom the Khyber police had registered FIRs were identified as Mamoor, Salim, Hajat, Samar Gul and Mohammad Sadeeq.

“We have busted various drug dens in Jamrud and Bara in recent days and recovered large quantities of drugs besides sealing drug manufacturing factories,” he said. The DPO said the police had an effective information system and they also shared information with the Peshawar police to track down peddlers.

“We will cleanse the Khyber district from illegal drugs which are harming our youth,” he said.
