PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan said on Tuesday that administration of justice was not the exclusive responsibility of judges and lawyers as it was only possible when all the stakeholders did justice to their responsibilities.

The PHC chief justice visited Karak district and administered oath to the newly-elected cabinets of Karak District Bar Association and tehsil bar associations of Banda Daud Shah and Takht-i-Nusrati.

Addressing the ceremony, he said: “The quality of judgment depends on the quality of assistance rendered by the lawyers and we expect proper assistance from the bar.”

He stressed the need for availability of conducive working environment for administration of justice. “Work on construction of judicial complex in Karak will be expedited which has suffered due to less funding during the previous years,” he said.

After the oath taking ceremony, the PHC chief justice visited the under-construction building of judicial complex. Work on the complex was started in November 2016 but it was behind the schedule due to less allocation of fund by the provincial government.

Allocation in Annual Development Programme for Peshawar High Court has been increased this year and this project will get sufficient fund for its completion during the next two years.

Initially the project was approved for a cost of Rs819.943 million and till date an amount of Rs489.767 million including land cost has been incurred.

Recently the project has been revised to Rs1048.595 million to include construction of bar room, lawyers’ shed, residences, furniture and equipment in it.

The complex is spread over an area of 150 kanals having 17 courtrooms in a double storey building, extendable to 26 courtrooms.

Besides the courtroom building, the complex will have buildings for public facilitation, bar room, lawyers’ shed, security barracks, residences, judicial lock up and mosque along with allied works and landscaping.
