KARACHI: Japanese ship Yuugiri recently visited Karachi port to receive an impressive welcome from senior officials of the Pakistan Navy along with the defence attaché of Japan.

On completion of the visit, sea exercises were conducted between Pakistan Navy and Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF) ships covering a wide range of naval operations. The exercise was aimed to enhance interoperability and contribute toward international efforts for ensuring maritime security in the Indian Ocean Region.

Exercise with JMSDF Ship Yuugiri is a testimony of Pakistan Navy’s resolve to work towards regional peace and it will further strengthen mutual collaboration between the two navies.

Pakistan Navy and the JMSDF enjoy longstanding cordial relations. Both navies have been working together to ensure safe and secure maritime environment in the region. The ships of both navies are also participating in maritime security operations and have conducted sea exercises on various occasions.

The Japanese ship also participated in the Aman-21 exercises held in Pakistan waters back in February this year.
