OKARA, Oct 28: A Wapda lineman died while another sustained burn wounds while working on an electric pole in Gogera Town on Friday. According to reports, linemen Muhammad Rafique and Nasir Javid were removing some fault on the pole when they received a severe electric shock. Consequently, Rafique died on the spot while Javid received burn wounds. He was shifted to hospital where his condition was stated to be stable.

The younger sister of Rafique also died of shock when his dead body was brought home at Chak 24/GD. Later, funeral prayers of both the sister and the brother were offered and were laid to rest in the village graveyard.

SHOT DEAD: A man was shot dead and his wife was injured seriously by unidentified assailants at Chak 9/1-A1 on Friday.

Muhammad Tufail and his wife were present in their house when armed men stepped in and opened fire on them and escaped. Tufail died on the spot while his injured wife was taken to the local DHQ Hospital in serious condition. The motive behind the incident could not be known.

Renala Sadar police are going into the matter.

ARRESTED: B-Division police arrested a drug pusher and recovered 11 kgs of hashish from his possession here on Friday.

SHO Tariq Awan and ASI Muhammad Nawaz on a tip-off checked a Lahore-bound bus on the General Bus Stand and arrested drug pusher Muhammad Asif of Haroonabad with the contraband.

Police have instituted a case against the accused.
