GILGIT: Ghizer sessions court on Thursday acquitted a woman accused of blasphemy and ordered her release from prison.

Hareer Ashraf from Yasin, a community schoolteacher, was booked by Gakuch Ghizer police station in February 2019.

She was arrested and sent to jail while her trail continued by the sessions court.

After hearing the arguments of prosecutor and defence, the judge had reserved verdict on June 12.

On Thursday, the court issued short order of the verdict.

The court in the short order said that the case was disposed of and the suspect was acquitted from the charges levelled against her. The court ordered her release from jail.

Meanwhile, body of 10-year-old boy was found under a huge boulder in Yasin valley of Ghizer in Gilgit-Baltistan on Tuesday.

According to police, unidentified stabbed and killed the 10-year-old boy identified as Bashir. The victim was laid to rest after performing autopsy.

DIG Dr Mian Saeed on Thursday visited the family of the victim.

He offered condolence and assured the family of provision of justice.

According to police sources, initial reports suggest that the boy died after being stabbed with a sharp object.

Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid has also taken notice of the incident.

He ordered strict action against the people involved in the crime.
