Policeman deprived of his motorcycle

GUJRAT, Oct 27: Dacoits injured a police constable and took away two motorcycles in as many incidents in and around the city on Wednesday night. Constable Bashir Ahmad was on his motorcycle (GTS-7757) when two unidentified robbers intercepted him near Dinga railway station. They fled away along with the motorcycle after injuring the constable with their firing on putting up resistance.

Similarly, three dacoits snatched motorcycle (MNO-7020) from Waqar near Daulat Naggar.

WOMAN DIES: An elderly woman died while her grandson was injured in an accident on GT Road at Sarai Alamgir on Thursday.

One Tayyab Shah and her grandmother were on a motorcycle when hit by a tractor-trolley. Shah received critical injuries while his grandmother died instantly.

ACCIDENT: A man died and two others were injured in a head-on collision between a Hiace and a double-cabin near Karrianwala.

The deceased was identified as Akram, while the injured, Irfan and Nazir Bibi, were admitted to a hospital.

BOOKED: The district administration on Thursday booked 19 shopkeepers in Kharian and Dinga for overcharging.

Magistrate Jhangir Mir conducted raids in Kharian cantonment area and arrested six traders for violating the Price Control Act.

Similarly, Magistrate Rana Abdul Jabbar arrested 13 shopkeepers in Dinga on the same charges.

Separate cases had been lodged against the arrested men.
