TAXILA: A water filtration plant was installed inside the judicial complex in Attock on Tuesday.

The plant was installed with an allocation of Rs3 million to provide clean drinking water to judicial officers, members of the legal fraternity and litigants who visit the courts everyday for hearings.

The inauguration ceremony was performed virtually by Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice (CJ) Mohammad Qasim Khan while District and Sessions Judge Syed Naveed Raza Boukhari, Additional and Sessions Judges Javaid Iqbal Bosal, Shahid Baig, Senior civil judges Shoaib Adeel, Umer Rasheed, Babar Hussain, president of District Bar Association Khalid Shahzaib and a large number of lawyers were present on this occasion.

Addressing through video link, Chief Justice Mohammad Qasim Khan said virtual inauguration of filtration plants was being carried out as clean drinking water would be provided in judicial complexes in 17 different districts across Punjab.

He said filtration plants had already been installed in 16 districts across the province. “Beside provision of basic facilities at the court complex, the utmost priority of the judicial officers and legal community is to ensure provision of quick justice,” he said, adding it is incumbent on the judiciary to provide speedy justice to the weak and downtrodden segment of society. The chief justice also said that a judicial officer must decide cases on merit, without fearing from anyone or being under pressure.
