HYDERABAD, Oct 27: Eighty percent rehabilitation work on 10 minors and distributaries of Nara canal has been completed at a cost of Rs74.8 million. This was disclosed at a joint meeting of the Farmers Organisations (FOs) and contractors held here on Thursday.

The Managing Director, Sindh Irrigation and Drainage Authority (SIDA), Mr.Manzoor Ahmed Shaikh, presided over the meeting. Those who attended the meeting included general manager Operation SIDA, Moula Bux Mirbahar, general manager transition, professor Aijaz Ahmed Qureshi, director Nara Canal Area Water Board and Onfarm Water Manag-ement Project consultants, Prof-essor Abdur Rasheed Memon and others concerned officials of SIDA and the office bearers of FOs.

The meeting was further informed that the FOs of Bagi minor in cooperation with the local community was working on the rehabilitation of the minor which will cost Rs2.4 million. It was decided in the meeting that the remaining work of the rehabilitation of minors and distributaries of Nara canal should be completed latest by the end of November, 2005.
