ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Navy ship Saif docked at Kuwait’s Mina’ash Shuwaykh port during an overseas deployment on Sunday.

According to a Pakistan Navy statement, the ship was deployed to undertake regional maritime security patrol in the Gulf of Aden, North Arabian Sea and Gulf of Oman to contribute in international efforts to ensure maritime security in the region.

Pakistan Navy said that upon arrival at the port vicinity, PNS Saif was welcomed by a Kuwaiti Navy ship. On reaching the harbour, the ship was received by Ambassador of Pakistan in Kuwait Syed Sajjad Haider and officials of Kuwait’s naval force.

During the stay at the port, the Commanding Officer of Pakistan Navy ship called on the civil and military leadership of the host country and discussed matters of bilateral interest and collaboration between the two navies. After the port visit, a Passage Exercise was conducted among the Pakistan Navy and Kuwaiti Naval Force.

Pakistan Navy said that it had always remained committed to maintaining regional peace and stability in Indian Ocean region. Continuous deployments of PN ships and participation in bilateral exercises was a manifestation of PN’s resolve to maintain stability and order in maritime domain.

Pakistan and Kuwait enjoy close diplomatic ties and cordial relations. The port visit would contribute in strengthening bilateral ties and enhance interoperability between the two navies, Pakistan Navy said in the statement.
