RAWALPINDI: Three police officials were booked for allegedly being involved in the kidnapping of three people for ransom in Chontra area on Thursday. The kidnapped persons were recovered by police.

A police spokesman said three constables were booked after the three abducted persons were recovered during a police raid and a case on charges of kidnapping for ransom was registered against them.

The kidnapping incident came to light when Mohammad Kashif, a resident of Gujranwala informed the emergency police that his brother along with two other persons was kidnapped by unidentified persons in a car, who asked for a ransom of Rs2 million.

Following the emergency call, Station House Officer Chontra Mohammad Asif along with police reached the scene and managed to recover the three kidnapped individuals identified as Asad, Afaq and Niha. The suspects managed to escape during the raid and are yet to be captured by police.

Preliminary police investigation led to the initiation of legal action against the three constables, however, the real circumstances under which the kidnapping took place and involvement of police officials will be ascertained after an investigation is launched.

Separately, a petrol filling station employeewas robbed of Rs1.1 million by two unidentified motorcycle riders at Tipu Road on Thursday.
