LAHORE: Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that all hurdles affecting the development of cordial relations between the government and journalist community will be removed.

During a meeting with a delegation of the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) on Monday, Dr Awan said that Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Minister Usman Buzdar were committed to resolving the journalist community’s problems.

“The PTI government is in active coordination with the journalists’ community and resolving all issues being confronted by them,” she said.

She, however, stressed that the media, alongside criticism, should also highlight the record development works executed during the Buzdar-led government.

Dr Awan said the chief minister was committed to making performance rather than mere show-off and added that Mr Buzdar’s three-year rule was better than former chief minister Shahbaz Sharif’s 10-year rule in Punjab.

The CM’s aide stated that Mr Sharif had left the province in Rs1.2 trillion debt, while the Buzdar government turned around its fate and now the province was boasting of surplus funds. She said the budget for 2021-22 reflected record uplift funds to ensure development in every nook and corner of the province. She said new hospitals and universities were being set up in the province.
