TAXILA: The district administration would make all-out efforts through evolving the health department and WHO to make Attock as a typhoid free district.

This was stated by Deputy Commissioner Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh while chairing a meeting to review arrangements for upcoming Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine (TCV) drive which is scheduled to begin on Monday.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Shehryar Arif Khan, chief executive officer District Health Authority Dr Jawad Ellahi, district health officer Dr Junaid Tariq, deputy district health officer Dr Kashif Hussain, district surveillance officer Dr Talib Hussain, district Superintendent vaccination Mohammad Ayub Khan and representatives of WHO were also present.

Briefing the participants, Dr Jawaad said around 218,848 children from nine months to 15 years of age will be administered anti-typhoid vaccine.

He said children from nine months to 15 years of age will be vaccinated against typhoid under the Health Services Department’s anti-typhoid campaign, and the department’s Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI) will be launched in the district.

“The anti-typhoid campaign will run for 15 days, and a public awareness drive has already initiated in collaboration with the WHO in all six tehsils of the district”.

Dr Jawwad said the target set for Attock city to administer anti-typhoid vaccine was 94,716 children and in this connection the city has been divided into six sectors.
