MUZAFFARGARH: A member of the Paryar robbers gang was killed during an ‘encounter’ here on Thursday.

Reports said the Paryar gangsters were on a looting spree when a Jatoi police patrol stopped them. On seeing the police, the suspects opened fire. During a shootout, one of the suspects identified as Abdul Malik alias Bhori was killed on the spot.

However, police claimed that the suspect was killing in firing by his own accomplices while two others managed their escape.

Station House Officer Zahid Mahmood Leghari told Dawn that the gang was involved in more than 60 incidents of robbery and motorcycle snatching.

He said on June 1, this gang committed a robbery in Alipur tehsil in a house where Abdul Malik allegedly raped a woman.

Police have shifted the body to the Jatoi THQ hospital for medical examination.
