LAHORE: Inspector General of Punjab Police Inam Ghani has given approval to ‘Post-Promotion Supervisory Course’ for the officers promoted to the rank of superintendent of police (SP).
The approval was granted at a meeting chaired by the IGP at the Central Police Office here on Tuesday.
The assistant superintendents of police (ASPs) and the deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) would have to complete the newly-approved course before getting next assignments as SPs in Punjab.
The IGP said the officers coming to Punjab from other provinces would have to undergo short-term course under the supervision of IT Wing on the use of all IT projects of the provincial police especially public service delivery projects in order to serve the public efficiently.
He added that the Punjab police department had started several useful and successful projects of service delivery to transform ‘Punjab police from crime-fighting to service delivery force’.
The newly introduced course would be of special importance for the officers promoted to the rank of SP before posting in which they would be briefed on the working of all units and wings of the Punjab police, he said. He said the training courses would help officers know about the IT projects of the Punjab police so that they can fulfill their professional responsibilities and play an effective role in solving public problems.
Additional IG Training Kanwar Shahrukh informed the meeting that the officers joining the course would closely review the working of each department and report to the course commander based on their observations. He said the head of the training college would send the evaluation reports of all SPs after completing the course to Addl IG training.
