LAHORE: The Covid-19 claimed the lives of 52 more people in Punjab during the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 10,184.

The total number of infections reached 341,390 after 401 more people tested positive for the virus during the same period. Of them, 173 were reported from Lahore while others from Sahiwal, Jhang, Bahawalnagar, Khushab, Sialkot, Chiniot, Sargodha, Khanewal, Nankana Sahib, Hafizabad, Lodhran, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Multan, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, Jhelum, Mianwali, Mandi Bahauddin, Layyah, Sheikhupura, Narowal, Gujrat, Kasur, Okara and Bhakkar.

A spokesperson for the health department said keeping in view that the Covid-19 was on the decline, the department decided to open all medical colleges/universities/nursing colleges etc from June 7 across the province.

He said the decision was made following the recommendations of the Punjab cabinet committee.

He said all medical and dental students would attend classes in person from June 7 and would get themselves vaccinated too.

All the vice chancellors and principals have been directed to ensure vaccination of all medical students, the spokesman added.
