ISLAMABAD: The capital police c arrested three alleged land grabbers from Bhara Kahu.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Dr Syed Mustafa Tanweer said police are determined to eliminate land mafia from the city.

Two of the land grabbers were residents of Phulgran and the third one a resident of Tumair. One of the suspects has been involved in the practice of land grabbing since the last three decades; he was booked in Sept 1990 by Kohsar police for the first time.

The suspect has a criminal record in Islamabad, Rawalpindi apart from police stations of ANF Punjab and was involved in 11 cases of burglary, fraud, car theft, drug peddling and so on, the SSP said.

The second suspect was also wanted in two cases registered at Nilore police station, Mr Tanweer said, adding he was also involved in 20 cases of terrorism, possessing illegal weapons, threatening people, firing and other crimes of heinous nature.

Further investigation is underway.
