KARACHI: A sessions court on Thursday directed an investigating officer to submit a final charge sheet against suspects allegedly involved in blackmailing and harassing a married woman who later committed suicide in Shadman Town.

Police booked and detained six men — Syed Irtiza Raza Rizvi, Waqas, Mohammad Amir, Shahid, Farhad and Asad — following the April 7 suicide of the 41-year-old woman allegedly due to blackmailing and harassment.

On Thursday, when the matter came up before the additional district and sessions judge (Central) Liaquat Ali Khoso, the investigating officer of the case was sent to submit an investigation report.

However, the IO informed that the body of the victim had been exhumed after obtaining permission from the court. He said that the samples of the victim’s body parts had been sent to laboratory for chemical analysis and DNA matching, etc, and its report was still awaited.

He requested for more time to enable him to submit a final charge sheet in the case after completing the investigation.

Allowing the request, the judge directed the IO to submit the charge sheet along with medical reports of the victim on the next date and adjourned the hearing.

Some of the suspects nominated in the present case are currently on post-arrest bail.

According to the FIR, the complainant, a brother of the deceased, claimed that his sister committed suicide because she was fed up with the “blackmailing, harassment and threats” of the nominated suspects.

He also presented three audio messages of his sister to this effect, which she had sent to her female friend.

A case was registered under Sections 322 (manslaughter) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code at the Shahrah-i-Noor Jehan police station.

Remand over uploading indecent pictures

A local court remanded a suspect detained for allegedly putting indecent pictures of a girl on social media.

The Federal Investigation Agency arrested the suspect and booked him under charges of cybercrime and harassment.

The IO produced the suspect before the judicial magistrate (East) Mukesh Kumar to seek his physical remand for interrogation and investigation.

He said that a girl lodged a complaint alleging that her friend [the detained suspect] had obtained some of her personal pictures and was blackmailing her on the basis of the same.

He was forcing the complainant to fulfil his demands, said the IO, adding that the suspect was traced and arrested from a city mall.

He requested the judge to grant 14-day physical remand of the suspect for interrogation and completion of other legal formalities, including forensic examination of mobile phone, etc.

However, the judge remanded the suspect in judicial custody for one day directing the IO to produce him on next date along with an investigation report.

A case was lodged under relevant provisions at the FIA cybercrime police station.
