CHARSADDA: Three members of a family, a minor girl among them, were killed and three women injured when a car they were travelling in hit the safety railing of a bridge on the Jindi River on Peshawar-Charsadda Road here on Saturday.

Local residents said that the family belonging to Rustam area of Mardan was going to Peshawar. The incident occurred in the limits of Prang police station.

They said the car overturned after hitting the safety railing of the bridge. As a result, three of the inmates died instantly, and three women were injured.

Rescue 1122 personnel shifted them to the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar.

The victims were identified as Ehteram Khan, his minor daughter, Zaviya and cousin, Yahya, 17. The injured women included wife, sister and a relative of Ehteram Khan.

The police registered a case.

Separately, a man was shot dead by his rival after an exchange of harsh words in the Mandani police station limits on Saturday.

The police registered a case on the complaint of Imran Khan, a brother of the victim, Khairullah, against Gul Mohammad of Dhaki village.

He told the police that his brother had clashed with the accused over some issue.
