ENCROACHMENTS: The district administration on Saturday started an operation to retrieve land of Pakistan Railways in Bannu city.
An official said that land grabbers had built shops and business outlets on the railway land along Bannu-DI Khan road in the urban locality.
The land grabbers occupied the land when the government had abandoned railway service in southern districts, including Lakki Marwat and Bannu, around four decades ago.
The official said the anti-encroachment operation was launched after authorities concerned completed the demarcation of railway land.
He said that the operation would continue till the entire land of Pakistan Railways was cleared of encroachments.
