ISLAMABAD: A decline in the positivity ratio of Covid-19 cases has been seen in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. However, there has been no respite from casualties related to the disease as five patients died on Thursday. Positivity rate in the capital was recorded at 2.2pc and in the Rawalpindi district at 2.7pc.

As many as 117 people were diagnosed with the disease in the capital and 50 in Rawalpindi.

Officials of the capital administration said two deaths were reported in the age group of 60-69 and one in 40-49. All were male and residents of G-13 and H-13 while the address of one deceased is not known.

During the last 24 hours, 5,177 tests were conducted, they said, adding out of the total 117 tested positive.

On Thursday, the capital has 6,811 active cases.

District Health Officer Dr Zaeem Zia said, “We have a total of 117 positive cases diagnosed for today against 5,177 tests whereas positivity has further dropped to 2.2pc, lowest since the beginning of the third wave of the virus.

Rawalpindi

The district has seen a downward spiral of Covid-19 cases since the last two days and the positivity rate remained less than 3pc but there has been no respite from casualties related to the deadly virus.

Two people succumbed to the virus and 50 people were diagnosed with the disease.

The deceased were identified as Zafira Bibi, 74, resident of Murree, brought to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) on May 26 and Mohammad Sadique, 62, resident of Defence Colony KRL Road, shifted to Pims on May 26.

In Rawalpindi district, there are 909 active patients. As many as 144 patients are in hospitals including 40 who arrived from other districts and 765 patients are home isolated. As many as 735 patients are waiting for the results of their Covid-19 serology. As many as 40 of the new patients are from the garrison city including 12 from cantonment, 13 from Potohar Town and 15 from Rawal Town.

From other parts of the district, two patients each arrived from Kallar Syedan and Kotli Sattian while one patient each was from Murree and Taxila. Three patients were brought from Islamabad and one from AJK.

Moreover, 21 patients were admitted in Holy Family Hospital, 16 in Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH), 31 in Rawalpindi Institute of Urology (RIU), 25 patients in Fauji Foundation Hospital (FFH), three patients in Hearts International Hospital, four patients at Bilal Hospital and one at Begum Akhter Rukhsana Hospital.

There are four patients on ventilators in Rawalpindi, 57 on oxygen support and 40 are stable.
