KASUR: Khudian police on Tuesday registered a case against eight persons who allegedly subjected a man to public humiliation by putting a ‘shoe garland’ around his neck and uploading a footage of the episode on social media, for posting insulting remarks against them on facebook.

Taking notice of the footage, District Police Officer Imran Kishwar constituted a team to trace the victim.

The team tracked the victim, later identified as Abdul Hameed, with the help of his facebook ID and on his complaint police registered a case against the eight suspects.

According to the first information report (FIR) lodged under sections 506, 355, 357, 147 and 148 of the Pakistan Penal Code, the suspects, including Nasir and Shahzad, forcibly took Hameed in a shop where they put a “garland” made of shoes around his neck to humiliate him. They also made a video clip of the maltreatment of the victim and uploaded it on social media.

According to initial police findings the suspects harboured a grudge against Hameed for posting comments against them on facebook.

The police claimed to have arrested three of the eight suspects and were looking for others.

INJURED: At least 10 factory workers suffered injuries on Tuesday as the bus carrying them overturned on Raiwind Road near Raja Jang village while overtaking a tractor-trolley, in the limits of Raja Jang police station.

According to police, a bus was on its way to a factory carrying workers when it overturned while overtaking a tractor-trolley. As a result, 10 workers got injured, who were shifted to the district headquarters hospital.

The bus driver fled the scene, while the police impounded the vehicle.
