SHANGLA: The shortage of staff at tehsil municipal administration of Bisham for the last several months has been causing troubles to local people.

The TMA of Bisham city is facing shortage of clerical, engineering and sanitation staff owing to frequent transfers of officials, according to sources. They said that work on several schemes was pending owing to shortage of TMA staff.

They said that the post of accountant had been lying vacant for a long time and a clerk was performing his duty. However, he too was transferred to another TMA six months ago, they added.

Sources said that work on several projects was also suspended owing to shortage of the relevant staff as the posts of sub-engineer and superintendent were also vacant since long.

Fazal Hamid, the tehsil municipal officer, when contacted, said that his office was unable to fulfil all the responsibilities as 80 per cent posts were vacant there.

He said that he had submitted a request to the regional management officer for filling the posts that had been lying vacant for several months and causing problems to them.

The TMO said that presence of superintendent, clerics and engineering staff was must to run the office.

CAMPAIGN: The health department has launched an anti-dengue campaign in the district.

Dr Abdul Samad Khan, the focal person for anti-dengue campaign, told Dawn that more than 300 lady health workers and other staffers of the department were taking part in the drive in all the 28 union councils of the district.

“We have taken this initiative to prevent the spread of mosquito-borne disease in the district,” he said.

He said that the health workers in their respective areas were identifying the breeding spots of dengue larva. He said that they were destroying the larva in stagnant water.

Dr Samad said the campaign would continue for the next three months to keep the district free from dengue.
