KARAK: Two children were killed and their parents received critical burn injuries when the roof of a room in their house collapsed due to gas explosion in Tappi Kanda area of district Karak.

Police sources said here on Monday that wife of Mohammad Ismail was making breakfast when the room collapsed. They said that the room was filled with gas owing to leakage in the line that caught fire when she lighted a match.

The locals retrieved four injured from the debris. They were taken to district headquarters hospital Karak but two children identified as Shah Zain, 8, and his sister Tufilka, 4, succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.

Muhammad Ismail and his wife were referred to a hospital in Peshawar in precarious condition.
