TAXILA: A 12-year-old boy drowned on Sunday after falling into a local mini lake while attempting to take a selfie and his father also died trying to save him, officials said.

The incident happened in Khud Mini Lake near Fatehjang tehsil of Attock. The boy identified as Abdullah along with his father Khalid Mehmood from Mianwala Pindigheb was visiting the area to celebrate Eid with their family members. On Sunday, they went to the lake and while taking a selfie, Abdullah slipped and drowned in the water; his father jumped in the water to save him but they could not survive as both were not good swimmers.

Later, the deceased were shifted to their native town in Pindigheb for burial.

Moreover, a 21-year-old government official received a bullet injury while cleaning his pistol in the jurisdiction of Attock police station. Police said Mohammad Nadeem was cleaning his 30-bore pistol in his house when it went off accidentally, leaving him critically injured.

Upon getting information, Rescue-1122 shifted the injured to District Headquarters (DHQ) hospital where his condition is stated to be out of danger. Police registered two separate cases and launched further investigation.
