Businessman among six held with three hunted Chinkaras

RAHIM YAR KHAN: The Punjab wildlife department officials on Wednesday arrested six hunters, including a businessman, and recovered three Chinkara deer from their four wheeler in Cholistan, some 60 kms away from the district headquarters.

Wildlife Bahawalpur Deputy Director Rai Zahid told Dawn that he had deputed five squads before Eid to monitor and patrol the wildlife protected area because many illegal hunters visit Cholistan these days.

He said on Tuesday night he sent a team headed by Assistant Director Mian Ibrar after receiving different [hunting] complaints.

When this team was patrolling in Cholistan’s wildlife protected area, it saw a vehicle there.

Mian Ibrar with his team chased the vehicle and arrested famous businessman Ahmed Shah Hamdani and his five friends Saddaruddin, Anjum Gopang, Javed, Jameel and Allauddin and recovered three precious Chinkara deer from their custody.
