LOWER DIR: Jamaat-i-Islami Lower Dir deputy general secretary Hafiz Yaqubur Rehman on Sunday demanded of the government to ensure early completion of Khazana bypass bridge to provide relief to the area people.

Talking to mediapersons in Timergara, he asked the provincial government and concerned authorities of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority to take notice of the slow pace of work on the bridge that had central importance in the district.

The bridge was washed away by flood in 2015 after which JI chief Sirajul Haq had inaugurated the project with the cost of Rs300 million, which was allocated in the budget at that time.

Mr Yaqub said heavy traffic to Bajaur and Jandol had to pass through Timergara as it was not allowed through a steel bridge on Panjkora River at Khazana. He asked the lawmakers from the area to raise voice for early completion of the project.

Asks govt to take notice of slow pace of work

ROAD ACCIDENT: A man and his son were killed when a heavy trailer hit their motorcycle at Gulabad in Ouch police station limits here on Sunday.

The police said Fazal Rehman was killed on the spot while his son succumbed to injuries at the Chakdara hospital.

SOPs IMPLEMENTATION: Deputy commissioner Aun Haidar Gondal along with AC Tahir Ali on Sunday inspected various markets in Timergara city to check implementation of SOPs for preventing spread of coronavirus.

The AC booked several shopkeepers for violation of the SOPs. The DC also visited Timergara general bus stand to check measures taken for implementation of the SOPs.

Mr Gondal has imposed section 144 CrPC banning visit of people to tourist spots and public parks from May 8 to 16. He along with Adenzai assistant commissioner Mohammad Abdullah inspected the Ramazan sasta bazaar in Chakdara and checked various food stalls, subsidised flour and sugar shops.

ROBBERY: Khall police arrested an alleged robber and recovered Rs800,000 from his possession.

Presenting the accused before media at Khall here the other day, DSP Farooq Jan said unknown robbers had broken locks of a shop owned by Mohammad Javed at Khall bazaar two weeks ago.

He said the police arrested one of the accused Faridullah, a resident of Chappar area, who confessed to the crime.
