KARACHI: An eyewitness on Saturday identified a suspect as an accused involved in the murder of four TikTokers in Karachi.

The victims — Muskan Sheikh, Amir Khan, Rehan Shah and Saddam Hussain — were killed when unidentified gunmen attacked their car near Anklesaria Hospital in the early hours on February 1.

On Saturday, investigating officer produced Rehman Ali, who is believed to be the main suspect in the murder case, for his identification parade.

The magistrate after fulfilling legal formalities conducted the identification parade.

The suspect was produced before an eyewitness, who rightly picked him out among the dummies, as an accused involved in the four murders.

After completing the proceedings, the magistrate remanded the suspect in judicial custody and directed the IO to submit the charge sheet on the next date.

Last week, Rehman Ali had surfaced after remaining at large since February and filed an application for grant of pre-arrest bail in the case.

However, a sessions’ judge had dismissed his plea and remanded him in police custody.

A female suspect also nominated in the case, Sawera, is already on bail.

A murder case against them has been registered at the Nabi Bux police station.

Sub-Inspector’s suicide

A district court on Saturday directed the station house officer of the Mithadar police station to submit a detailed report regarding incident of suicide committed by a police sub-inspector allegedly due to victimisation by his colleagues.

District and sessions’ judge (South) Munawwar Ali Lodhi called such report till May 20.

He also asked the applicant, the son of the deceased, to approach SP Complaint Cell for the purpose of an inquiry into the alleged incident.

Sajjad Ali had filed an application against the SSP South, SP Complaint Cell and SHO PS Mithadar for not entertaining his requests to conduct an inquiry against the police officials allegedly responsible for suicide of his father.

Advocate Shahid Hussain Soomro said the applicant’s father, Sub-inspector Muzaffar Chandio, had committed suicide by setting himself on fire outside the Central Police Office Karachi on April 26 due to alleged harassment and victimisation by his colleagues.

He said before dying police and Rangers officials had recorded statement of the deceased, who in his “dying declaration” had nominated DSP Ayaz Danhwar, accountant Gulzar Khan, Darya Khan and Imran Ali, for implicating him in fake inquiries that led to his dismissal from service.

According to statement of the deceased, the four nominated police officials had asked him for favours in their illegal activities.

The applicant also said his father sent a voice note to DIG Shaikh on April 25, requesting for personal hearing, but the latter did not bother.
