Suspended Zakat body chief files plea

LARKANA, Jan 22: Abdul Qadir Jagirani, the suspended chairman of the Zakat committee, deh Fatuhal Chodho, Mirokhan, has filed a petition in the Sindh High Court, Larkana circuit, against chairman of the district Zakat committee for suspending him and seizing his bank accounts in violation of the rules of the Zakat Ordinance.

Through his advocate, Inayatullah Morio, the petitioner alleged that the chairman of the district zakat committee had refused to approve the recommended cases of dowry, poor students and poor educated persons seeking assistance to begin business.

Misusing his powers, the chairman not only suspended him but also seized his bank accounts and issued notices on fictitious grounds, the petitioner said adding he also appointed Noor Mohammed Deenari as administrator in contravention of the ordinance.

The petitioner prayed the court to declare the actions of the district zakat committee chairman illegal and without lawful authority.

Meanwhile, Imtiaz Ali, chairman, Zakat committee, deh Dhingano Maheser, has filed another constitutional petition against the chairman of the district zakat committee.

Both the petitions would be heard on Thursday.
