Two including ex-peace body chief shot dead

MOHMAND: A man gunned down former head of a peace committee, and later a brother of the deceased also shot dead the attacker in Mohmand tribal district here on Monday, the police said.

The police said a man opened fire on Malik Khana Gul, former peace body chief, in Darwazagi area of Safi tehsil, leaving him seriously injured. The police shifted the injured to a Peshawar hospital, where he succumbed to injuries.

The police said Din Mohammad, a brother of the deceased, shot dead the attacker namely Abdul Khaliq.

The police arrested Din Mohammad along with an accomplice.

Separately, rival groups traded fire over a petty issue in Ambar tehsil, leaving a woman injured. She was shifted to a Peshawar hospital, where her condition is stated to be critical.

The police have arrested two persons in the case.
