100 health workers sent to AJK

LAHORE, Oct 20: The Punjab government has sent 100 health workers to Azad Kashmir in a bid to check epidemics spreading due to decomposition of bodies. They will fumigate the affected areas.

This was stated by Punjab Health Minister Dr Tahir Ali Javed while speaking at a meeting called to review relief activities of the health department. Director-General (Health) Dr Aslam Chaudhry briefed the minister.

The minister said the health department had also sent 26 medical teams comprising 124 officials, who had set up camps in Muzaffarabad, Bagh, Khattian, Pattal, Mansehra, Batgram and other areas.

Dr Chaudhry said the department had also sent 40 teams, each comprising two doctors, three technicians/dispensers and one member of the World Health Organization for the rehabilitation of rural health centres and basic health units in Azad Kashmir.
