LAKKI MARWAT: A woman and a man were killed allegedly for honour in Bannu district on Saturday, the police said.

The incident occurred in Kotka Jumma Khan locality in the limits of the Saddar police station, the officials said, adding the husband of the woman shot her and a young man dead.

They said the police had recovered the bodies from the house of the accused.

The bodies of the woman and the 22-year-old man were shifted to the district headquarters hospital.

The police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the law and began investigation.

In a separate development, Lakki Marwat district police officer Imran Khan has reverted nine police officials to their original ranks in the light of a Supreme Court judgment.

An official said on Saturday that the demoted officials had got out-of-turn promotions, which the SC had declared unconstitutional, un-Islamic, illegal and null and void.

The court had directed the provincial and regional police officers to implement the judgment in letter and spirit.

The official said head constable Waqas Khan had been reverted to the rank of lower head constable, and five head constables, including Waseem Khan, Ikramullah, Inamullah, Tariq Iqbal and Noor Aslam, had been demoted to the rank of constable.

The official said a lady lower head constable, Nighat Bibi, had been reverted to the rank of constable.

Another lower head constable, Sadullah, has been made constable, said the official, adding the seniority of in-charge head constable Mohammad Alam was fixed with his colleagues of intermediate college course.
