KURRAM: The body of a minor boy, who went missing shortly before iftar on Tuesday, was recovered from a drain near his house in Mirbakhel village near Parachinar city early on Wednesday, locals and the police said.

The child, identified as Shayan of over two years of age, went out of his home before sunset but did not return. The family searched for him, but in vain.

On Wednesday morning, the locals spotted his body lying in a drain near his house and informed the police.

DSP Najaf Ali Turi said the police recovered the body soon afterwards and shifted it to a hospital. He said the body was dispatched to a Kohat hospital for postmortem.

The police had registered a case, he said, and added the cause of death would be confirmed after the postmortem report was received.
