KOHAT: The district administration on Wednesday sealed two schools and fined the owners over violation of the closure orders issued by the government.

Additional assistant commissioner-III Mohammad Iqbal, acting on public complaints paid surprise visits to the schools in Togh Bala and Gumbat, and found them open. He sealed them on the pot and imposed heavy fines on the owners.

He also visited the main and other bazaars along with army officials to check implementation of SOPs against coronavirus by the traders and consumers. He distributed masks among the people.

Also, deputy commissioner Abdur Rehman cancelled the exemption given to the grocery and food outlets to operate beyond the 6pm closure time. In a notification, he said such outlets would also remain closed from 6pm till sehri.

In a separate development, the officials of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority, Hangu, on Wednesday seized and destroyed 60 kilogrammes of substandard bakery items from various outlets in Kalaya and Khadda bazaars in Orakzai district.

Orakzai deputy commissioner Mohammad Khalid had asked the food authority officials to check the food items at bakeries.

Online KUTCHERY: People complained about broken roads, poor cleanliness, low gas pressure and exorbitant meat prices in the city bazaars at an online kutchery held by deputy commissioner Abdur Rehman on Wednesday. Heads of departments, including Pesco, tehsil municipal administration, health, revenue, SNGPL, communication and works and additional assistant commissioners attended the session.

The deputy commissioner listened to the complaints of people made on his complaint number and issued directives for improving low gas pressure, ensuring availability of meat at controlled rates and repair of broken roads.

COVID VICTIMS LAID TO REST: The tehsil municipal administration officials buried the three victims of Covid-19 in different villages after they expired in the KDA Teaching Hospital on Wednesday.

Tehsil municipal officer Mohammad Shoeb, in a statement said the bodies were taken to their native villages in ambulances. He said the staff wearing safety suits dug the graves, and the ambulances were also disinfected after the burial.
