LAKKI MARWAT: The provincial government has approved establishment of a paramedic and male nursing college in Lakki Marwat district, says social welfare minister Dr Hisham Inamullah Khan.

Talking to reporters here on Tuesday, he said the project had been included in the current year’s Annual Developmental Programme. He thanked Chief Minister Mahmood Khan for approving the project and allocating funds for it.

He said the government had provided Rs67 million to the quarters concerned for purchase of land for the project, adding the college would be completed by June 2023 at a cost of over Rs2.2 billion.

ELDERS PLEDGE SUPPORT FOR PEACE: Local elders have vowed to extend help to the administration in maintaining peace in the Bannu district.

They gave the assurance at a meeting with divisional commissioner Shaukat Ali Yousafzai on Tuesday.

The elders told the commissioner that they would help the administration and the police in ensuring that wedding ceremonies, funeral prayers and other events were held in a peaceful manner.

It is to be mentioned here on April 20, armed men had attacked their rivals at a funeral in Akhundkhel locality, leaving two persons dead and three injured.

Mr Yousafzai hailed the elders and ulema for their sincere efforts to establish durable peace in the district. He said the administration would constitute committees having representation from all the clans to initiate concerted efforts for maintenance of peace and protecting people’s lives and properties.

THREE SHOT DEAD: Unknown attackers shot dead a young boy in Murghali Pirbakhel locality of Bannu on Tuesday.

The Domel police registered a case against unknown killers on the complaint of Farmanullah, father of the deceased, Farhanullah.

Separately, a firing incident left a man dead and his brother injured in Jabukhel locality of Lakki Marwat.

The police said Mir Ali died instantly while his injured brother, Wahidullah, was taken to a hospital

The Ghaznikhel police registered a case against the suspected attackers, Ihsanullah and Zahidullah. They said the victim had a petty dispute with the attackers.

Also on Tuesday, a young man was killed over a petty dispute in Eesakkhel village on the outskirts of the Lakki city.

The police said the victim, Rehmatullah, succumbed to injuries in the government city hospital.

The police registered a case against the suspected killers, Shafiq and Javed, and began investigation.
