PESHAWAR, Jan 22: Ahmed Hassan Khan, member of the PPP (Sherpao) central co-ordination committee, has said the country can not progress through disunity and disorder and stands in need of national consensus.

In a statement, issued here on Tuesday, he termed the political and economic conditions of the country grim, and called for reaching a consensus on significant national issues.

He remarked that Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, the chief of his own faction of the Pakistan People’s Party, was the only politician, who could bring about national consensus.

Mr Khan demanded immediate release of Mr Sherpao, warning that the workers and supporters of the party would not allow further detention of their leader.

He said that only a genuine leadership would fill the political vacuum, which had increased the problems of the people.
