KOHAT/CHARSADDA: Eight persons were killed and seven injured when rival groups traded fire in separate incidents in Kohat and Charsadda districts, the police said on Sunday.

A man and his three sons were killed and three others injured when rival groups clashed in the Darra Adamkhel tribal subdivision of Kohat late Saturday night.

All the deceased succumbed to their injuries in hospital.

A police official told Dawn that groups led by Habib and Sardar Ali Shah from Bosti Khel tribe had a brawl over a petty issue in the Darra Bazaar just before Iftar.

Later, he said the members of the groups traded fire in Bosti Khel area, which resulted in injuries to seven persons.

The injured were shifted to the KDA Teaching Hospital, where Abdur Rehman and his sons, Habib Afridi, Saeed Afridi and Naveed Afridi, succumbed to injuries.

The injured, Naimat, Asghar and Sardar Ali Shah, belonged to the rival group.

Meanwhile, rival groups clashed in Charsadda over a land dispute, leaving four persons dead and as many injured late on Saturday.

Two persons were killed from one group and one from the other, while the fourth victim was a passerby.

The police identified the victims as Abkar Ali, Shan Mohammad, Irshad Ali, and Zeeshan Khan, the passerby.

The wounded persons were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Charsadda.

The police registered cross FIRs on the complaints of the relatives of the victims.
