LAHORE, Oct 18: The Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy (ARD) chief, Makhdoom Amin Fahim, has said that they had neither received any invitation from the government to attend the All Parties Conference (APC) nor had it decided to participate in it.

Talking to the secretary-general of the Istiqlal party, Mian Saeed Qadri, on telephone on Tuesday, he said time would decide if we should attend it or otherwise.

In reply to a question, he said the nation was aware of the purpose of the APC and how the government was conducting relief work for quake victims.

It was not the time for politicking; it was the time for keeping the nation united, he remarked. The government should take steps to forge unity among the people instead of causing splits in opposition parties, he said.

Answering a question about launching of movement against the government, he said: “Just now we are engaged in relief work. ARD component parties heads meeting is likely to be convened after Eidul Fitr. The future strategy will be devised in this meeting. However, our movement has not been suspended or postponed.”

He said decisions related to relief aid for quake victims be made in parliament rather than in the National Security Council. The opposition considered parliament supreme.—Online
