DACCA: Pakistan Armed Forces, in pre-dawn lightning action today [April 15], secured the strategic Bhairab railway bridge in Mymensingh after inflicting heavy casualties on Indian infiltrators and anti-State elements who were about to dynamite it. ... The Bhairab railway bridge over the Meghna, links Chittagong and Sylhet with Dacca and is located about 25 miles from Agartala. Large scale Indian infiltration is reported from this border town of the Indian state of Tripura. — Agencies

[Meanwhile, as reported by agencies in Dacca,] The East Pakistan peace and welfare steering body at its first meeting held here yesterday [April 14] expressed its deep satisfaction at Pakistan Army’s timely and necessary action in countering the action of Indian and other enemies of Islam. It strongly condemned … the age-old Brahmanic enmity towards the very concept and existence of Pakistan. It also condemned the Indian infiltration into East Pakistan... .

Another resolution called upon all patriotic citizens, members of bar, Imams of the mosques, teachers and members of Madrasah teaching staff to undertake the task of educating the public on the principles of Quran and Sunnah to fight the enemies of Islam and Pakistan and to get ready for Jehad if and whenever called upon.
