BAHAWALPUR: Arrangements for the establishment of a sub-campus of Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB) at Ahmedpur East are being made.

This was informed by IUB Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Athar Mehboob to Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Planning and Development (P&D) Ms Kanwal Shozeb with whom the VC had held a meeting recently.

She had last year proposed to the VC to open a sub-campus for the convenience of local students and since then the IUB was working for the purpose.

Earlier, the IUB had also introduced a university bus service for local students to transport them from the city to two campuses. According to a press release, the parliamentary secretary told the VC that the federal government would soon approve a package amounting to Rs4 billion for IUB’s progress and development.

During the meeting, the VC gave a detailed resume to the parliamentary secretary about research, academic, extracurricular activities and tree plantation campaign under ‘green and clean Pakistan programme’ in the university.
