BAJAUR: Two children were killed and three others injured when a mound of soil from a hillock fell over them in Khar tehsil of the Bajaur tribal district on Wednesday.

Residents and Rescue 1122 officials told Dawn that the victims were busy digging a mass of soil when it slid, burying all under it in Rashaki Agra area.

The deceased and the wounded belonged to the same family.

The villagers and rescue and police personnel retrieved bodies of two children and three injured, including a woman.

The victims were identified as Nahida, 12, and Zeeshan Khan, 6, and the injured included Bilal Khan, 8, Saba Gul, 9, and wife of Fasial Khan.

The injured were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Khar.

A team of the district administration led by additional deputy commissioner Zameen Khan Mohmand visited the area and expressed sympathy with the bereaved family.

Meanwhile, two persons identified as Haris Khan and Khan Pacha were wounded after an under-construction wall of a house collapsed in Falang locality of Khar.

The injured were taken to the district headquarters hospital.

An 11-year-old boy named Maskan was injured when he fell from the roof of his house in Khar town. Rescue 1122 shifted the boy to a nearby hospital.

Also, unidentified motorcyclists shot at and injured a man in Mamond tehsil on Wednesday, police and residents said.

The victim named Abdullah was walking on a road when unknown persons on a motorcycle opened fire on him. He was taken to the district headquarters hospital.
