Nazims take oath of office

QUETTA, Oct 17: The newly-elected nazims and members of district, tehsil and town councils and union councils took oath of office on Monday. They were administered oath by returning officers.

Additional Sessions Judge Aftab Ahmed Lone administered the oath to Quetta City Nazim Mir Maqbool Lehri. Rozi Khan Kakar, nazim of Zarghoon town, and Mir Ismail Lehri, nazim of Chiltan town, also took oath of office.

Talking to reporters, the city nazim said he had met President Gen Pervez Musharraf in Islamabad a few days ago and the president had assured him that a special package would be announced for the provincial capital.

He said that maintaining law and order, curbing sectarianism and protecting the life and property of people would be his government’s priorities.

He urged the people to cooperate with him in his efforts to restore peace and amity amongst different ethnic groups.
