KARACHI: A suspected robber was killed in an alleged police encounter in North Nazimabad on Sunday evening.

Taimuria SHO Mohammed Naeem said that armed motorcyclists stanched the cell phone of a policeman in plain clothes, identified as Saeed, when he stopped his motorbike to take someone’s call.

He said the policeman, who was on an intelligence duty in the area, chased the fleeing robbers and an exchange of gunfire took place between them.

The SHO said one suspect got killed near the Mega Centre of Nadra while another arrested in an injured condition. The dead and wounded were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Man shot dead in Manghopir

A 40-year-old man was shot dead in the Manghopir area on Sunday, said police.

They added that Peer Mohammed was killed by one Ahsanullah near Alam Khan Goth over some property dispute.

The suspect managed to escape from the scene. The body was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Manghopir SHO Abdul Khaliq Ansari said that the victim and the suspect had a dispute over a plot in the area, which resulted in the murder.
