QUETTA: The Balochistan health department has again postponed a five-day vaccination campaign against polio across the province due to the ongoing strike of government employees who have been holding a sit-in for the past one week.

The anti-polio campaign was scheduled to kick off on April 5, as the emergency operations centre in Quetta had completed “all arrangements” for it.

The vaccination drive was planned for all 33 districts in Balochistan, including Quetta. “The campaign was postponed as health workers and other volunteers were not available due to the strike of the government employees,” said health officials.

Officials at the emergency operations centre in Quetta said the campaign would commence on April 7.

It was for a second time that the campaign had been postponed, as previously it had been planned for March 29.
