ISLAMABAD: The Investigation Wing of police on Friday launched a Short-Message-Service (SMS) that will update complainants on the status of their first information reports (FIRs).

According to police, under this automated system, both the complainant and respective investigation officer (IO) would be intimated via SMS about lodging of an FIR. This initiative will ensure constant coordination between an investigation officer and plaintiff.

The IO would be required to inform the complainant about progress of a case after the SMS alert, police said, adding that the officers would also contact the plaintiff to find out if he or she was facing any problems while pursuing the case.

Meanwhile, CIA of Islamabad police arrested two suspects and recovered cash, number plates and weapons from their possession, police said.

According to details SSP (Investigation) Ataur Rehman constituted a team under the supervision of DSP Hakim Khan which succeeded in tracing and arresting two criminals involved in vehicle snatching and recovered Rs400,000, number plates and weapons from their possession.

Cases have been registered against them in Shahzad Town police station and further investigation is underway.

DIG (Operations) Afzaal Ahmed Kausar has appreciated the team’s performance and directed all police officials to remain vigilant in their respective areas and ensure arrest of those involved in the ugly business of drug pushing.
