LAKKI MARWAT: A young man was shot dead in Serai Gambila area here on Friday.

The police said Fatehullah and his cousin, Niaz Wali Khan were in the melon fields near their house when two armed men opened fire on them in Manzar Faqeer locality. They said Fatehullah sustained serious injuries, while his cousin escaped the attack. The attackers belonged to the same village.

The injured was taken to the District Headquarters Hospital, Tajazai, where he was pronounced dead.

Wali Khan told the police that he did not know the reason behind the attack.

The police registered a case against the suspected killers, Hayatullah and Moeenullah.

POWER BREAKDOWN: Inhabitants of Haqdadabad locality of the Lakki city faced a 24-hour-long power breakdown due to a fault on the main transmission line.

Strong winds apparently caused fault on the power line suspending supply to the urban locality on Thursday.

A team of Pesco, however, restored power supply to many parts of the city except Haqdadabad.

The residents said electricity supply to the locality got suspended at 1pm on Thursday and was restored in the afternoon the next day. They said the power suspension caused water shortage in the locality.

Meanwhile, Pesco Lakki Marwat executive engineer (operations) Fida Mohammad Mehsud has urged people to avoid theft of electricity and use the facility legally.

Talking to a delegation led by former district naib nazim Arab Khan on Friday, he asked people to install metres to help the company ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to them.

He asked power defaulters and owners of tubewells to clear their dues.

The former nazim said people of rural areas planned to stage protests against unscheduled power outages. He accused the Pesco staffers of suspending power supply to the rural areas by dropping power links on the transmission line.

Mr Mehsud assured of carrying no unscheduled loadshedding in the rural areas of Serai Gambila subdivision.
