ISLAMABAD/RAWALPINDI: Robbers, burglars and thieves ruled the roost in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Friday.

In Islamabad, they looted cash and valuables worth millions of rupees from 22 different areas of capital, police said.

Two armed persons entered the shop of Imran Khan and looted cash and mobiles worth Rs150,000.

When the shopkeeper put up resistance the gunmen beat him with pistol butt. Later they escaped.

Three robbers looted Rs635,000 at gunpoint from another shop of Mohammad Haroon in Soan Camp, the police said.

Shortly they snatched the amount and escaped, they added.

In another incident, robbers snatched Rs500,000 from a man at gunpoint in G-10/1, the police said.

Robbers looted Rs300,000 from a man on Expressway.

Similarly, cash and mobiles worth Rs40,000 were snatched from two persons in Iqbal Town.

Furthermore, a gang of robbers snatched cash and mobile worth thousands of rupees from a man at Khanna Stop.

Moreover, culprits looted cash and mobile worth Rs30,000 from a man at Police Foundation, they said.

Burglars stole cash and valuables worth Rs2.9million from a house in F-10/4, the police said.

In another burglary incident, culprits stole household articles worth Rs60,000 from a house of Naqash Aliin Pindoria.

Similarly, cash, bonds and valuables worth Rs200,000 were also stolen from a house of Arshad Abbas, located in the area of Dhok Mohri, the police said.

Culprits stole 200 pigeons worth Rs300,000 from a house in Mohra Nagyal.

Meanwhile, 11 vehicles were also stolen from different areas of capital, they added.

Rawalpindi

Robbers and vehicle lifters struck at 24 different places in the city on Friday depriving people of cash and gold jewellery worth over Rs6 million and 17 vehicles, police said.

Seven armed robberies and 17 incidents of lifting eight motorcycles, four cars and five other vehicles including carry vans and auto-rickshaws were reported, however police was unable to trace any of the stolen vehicles or arrest any of the suspects.

Sajid ur Rehman complained to R.A Bazar police that he sent two of his employees to withdraw cash from a commercial bank in Saddar on Thursday; Azhar Hameed and Tanveer Hussain were on the way back to the office after withdrawing Rs5 million when they wereintercepted by two unidentified motorcycle riders who held them at gunpoint and forced them to give up the cash. Hameed was shot and injured when he resisted.

Mudassir Hussain, lodged a similar complaint with Rawat police saying that he was going to his warehouse in his van after collecting cash when another car in which three persons were travelling, signalled him to stop at Chak Baili road.

He said after he stopped his van, occupants of the car came to him and introduced themselves as police officials as they were carrying wireless sets. They searched the van and grabbed the cash bag. Upon offering resistance, Mudassir was beaten by the armed robbers who escaped with the cash.

Farhan Nisar, resident of Khayaban-i-Sir Syed was robbed of Rs22,000 and a mobile phone by two unidentified robbers who blocked his way on Adiala Road.
