KARACHI, Oct 16: Peshawar launched the defence of Quaid-i-Azam Trophy cricket title by dominating the first day’s play of their Gold League fixture against Rawalpindi at the Arbab Niaz Stadium on Sunday.

The hosts ended the day at four without loss after Rawalpindi were bowled out for 152 in their first innings once Wajahatullah Wasti elected to field first upon winning the toss.

Only Usman Saeed stood out for the visitors with 66, which was laced with nine boundaries.

Fazle Akbar and Nauman Habib captured three wickets each while slow left-armer Aslam Qureshi took two for 28.

The match started 90 minutes behind schedule because of overnight rain in Peshawar.
