MANSEHRA: A young girl was killed and another sustained critical injuries when a speeding motorcycle hit them while they were standing on the roadside in Rasheed area of Oghi on Saturday.

Kaynat, 12, and her friend were standing on the side of the Oghi-Battagram Road when they were hit by a speeding motorcycle, leaving them seriously injured.

The locals rushed them to the Civil Hospital Oghi, where doctors pronounced Kaynat dead. They referred her friend to Ayub Medical Complex Hospital in Abbottabad.

The police after lodging FIR started investigation.

Also, the food department has constituted three committees to check adulteration and price hike across the district.

“The members of the committees would pay visits to the bazaars daily to check price hike and adulteration,” assistant food controller Uzma Shaker told reporters.

Separately, Mohammad Bilal Khan Advocate was elected president of the district bar association during the body’s annual elections on Saturday.

Mr Bilal secured 337 votes against his rival Iftikhar Alam’s 63 votes.

All the other office-bearers of the association were elected unopposed earlier as none of the bar member had submitted nomination papers against them.
