LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday suspended a sessions court’s order that directed the cyber crime wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to lodge a case against Pakistan captain Babar Azam on a complaint of a woman.

The court sought a reply from the agency’s wing within two weeks and also issued a notice to the complainant woman.

Babar and other nominated accused in the complaint had challenged the lower court’s decision pleading that the order had been passed against the law. They asked the LHC to set aside the order.

Hamiza Mukhtar, the complainant, accused Babar and others of hurling life threats in WhatsApp messages through different mobile numbers. The woman said she had been facing continuous blackmailing that the suspects would upload her fake pictures on social media if she did not accept their demands.

“Since regular inquiry has commenced with respect to the complaint of the petitioner.

So, the respondent [FIA] is directed to proceed further with respect to the registration of FIR against the culprits within the stipulated time after committing legal formalities,” read the sessions court’s order.
