MANSEHRA: A newlywed woman drowned in the Kunhar River in Malkandi area here on Monday.

The woman slipped on a rock into the gushing water as her husband, Khalilur Rehman, was taking her pictures.

The Rescue 1122 and local divers began a search for her but failed to find the woman.

The couple from Sanghar area in Sindh had come to Kaghan valley on honeymoon.

SHO of the Balakot police station Muddasir Zia regretted that the visitors to Kaghan valley ignored safety warning boards in picnic spots, including riversides, and met mishaps.

He said tourists suffered as they didn’t know that Kunhar River’s water was too cold to swim.
